A note on the null distributions of some test statistics for profile analysis under general conditions

چکیده
In this note, we present the asymptotic expansions of the null distributions of some test statistics for k-sample profile analysis under general conditions. It extents Maruyama (2007, Asmptotic expansions of the null distributions of some test statistics for profile analysis in general conditions. J. Statist. Plann. Inference, 137, 506-526)’s result of two-sample case to k-sample (k ≥ 2) situations. Further, two new test statistics are devised for testing flatness based on the normal theory likelihood ratio criterion under two different specifications for the parameter space. The asymptotic expansions for these statistics are obtained. Our derivations are much simpler and elegant in that they are based on a transformation on some known results for one-way MANOVA and Hotelling’s T 2 statistics, etc. The accuracy of the asymptotic expansions in approximating the exact null distributions of the test statistics is examined via simulation studies. An application to a real data set is illustrated. AMS 2000 subject classification: Primary 62H10; Secondary 62E20

Testing a Point Null Hypothesis against One-Sided for Non Regular and Exponential Families: The Reconcilability Condition to P-values and Posterior Probability
In this paper, the reconcilability between the P-value and the posterior probability in testing a point null hypothesis against the one-sided hypothesis is considered. Two essential families, non regular and exponential family of distributions, are studied. It was shown in a non regular family of distributions; in some cases, it is possible to find a prior distribution function under which P-va...
متن کاملAsymptotic expansions of the null distributions of test statistics for multivariate linear hypothesis under nonnormality
This paper is concerned with the distributions of some test statistics for a multivariate linear hypothesis under nonnormality. The test statistics considered include the likelihood ratio statistic, the Lawley-Hotelling trace criterion and the BartlettNanda-Pillai trace criterion, under normality. We derive asymptotic expansions of the null distributions of these test statistics up to the order...
متن کاملTests for Profile Analysis Based on Two-step Monotone Missing Data
In this paper, we consider profile analysis for the observations with twostep monotone missing data. There exist three interesting hypotheses – the parallelism hypothesis, level hypothesis, and flatness hypothesis – when comparing the profiles of some groups. The T -type statistics and their asymptotic null distributions for the three hypotheses are given for twosample profile analysis. We prop...
متن کاملA Note on the Bivariate Maximum Entropy Modeling
Let X=(X1 ,X2 ) be a continuous random vector. Under the assumption that the marginal distributions of X1 and X2 are given, we develop models for vector X when there is partial information about the dependence structure between X1 and X2. The models which are obtained based on well-known Principle of Maximum Entropy are called the maximum entropy (ME) mo...
متن کاملEmpirical characteristic function-based tests for multivariate stable distributions
We consider goodness–of–fit testing for multivariate stable distributions. The proposed test statistics exploit a characterizing property of the characteristic function of these distributions and are consistent under some conditions. The asymptotic distribution is derived under the null hypothesis as well as under local alternatives. Conditions for an asymptotic null distribution free of parame...
